In order to protect all parties, guests and staff there will be a number of restrictions in place on your ceremony day to comply with government guidelines. Two metre social distancing will be observed for the entire ceremony party with the exception of the couple.

From 8th August 2020 face coverings must be worn by everyone entering the ceremony room aged 11 or over, with the exception of the couple and anyone who is exempt. Anyone else not wearing a face covering will be refused entry. This applies to all ceremonies at St George’s Hall and at approved venues.

Standard ceremony for the statutory fee

  • Entrance will be via the Visitor Centre at the top of St Johns Lane
  • Only the couple, 2 witnesses and 1 photographer will be permitted into the ceremony room
  • No additional children, babies or guests will be allowed
  • Exchange of rings is allowed
  • Photographs signing the register will not be permitted. Photographer must remain static during the proceedings

Enhanced ceremony

  • Entrance and exit will be via the South Steps of St George’s Hall
  • The maximum room capacity is the couple, 1 photographer and 10 guests (2 of these guests must be your witnesses)
  • No additional children, babies or guests will be allowed
  • Either party may make an entrance into the room after the guests, accompanied by someone from the same household or support bubble. Couple may enter together if they wish
  • A short reading is permitted providing the reader remains in their allocated seat
  • Music will be permitted
  • Exchange of rings is allowed
  • Photographs signing the register will not be permitted. Photographer must remain static during the proceedings. An unattended static video camera mounted on a tripod will be allowed
  • The ‘wedcam’ facility is available, however, please note that due to the revised layout of the room filming takes place from a side view only

Ceremonies at Approved Venues

  • The maximum room capacity will be advised by the venue but must ensure that 2m social distancing will be observed for the entire ceremony party with the exception of the couple.
  • From 28th September 2020, the maximum capacity is 15 comprising of the couple and 13 guests. In addition, a photographer is also allowed.
  • No additional children, babies or guests will be allowed
  • Either party may make an entrance into the room after the guests, accompanied by someone from the same household or support bubble. Couple may enter together if they wish
  • A short reading is permitted providing the reader remains in their allocated seat
  • Music will be permitted
  • Exchange of rings is allowed
  • Photographs signing the register will not be permitted. Photographer must remain static during the proceedings. An unattended static video camera mounted on a tripod will be allowed

Prior to the ceremony you will be required to provide a list of all the guests who are attending.  Only guests on the list will be allowed into the ceremony room.

All members of the ceremony party will be asked to confirm that they are not showing any symptoms of Covid-19 or have not been in contact with anyone who has symptoms.  Anyone showing symptoms or having contact with anyone who has will be refused entry.
