Where to give notice
You should give your notices at the register office where you have lived for the preceding eight days if you are getting married in a register office, approved venue or religious building (except Church of England or Church in Wales as notice is not required).
If you live in Liverpool, the register office is at:
St George’s Hall (Visitor Entrance), St George’s Place, Liverpool, L1 1JJ.
If you are unable to attend Liverpool Register Office due to long term or serious illness, please contact us to discuss alternatives.
You will need to book a notice appointment with your local Register Office
This will usually be located within the local authority that you pay your council tax to. Liverpool Register Office only covers the Liverpool City Boundary – find your local register office if you live outside the Liverpool City Boundary.
When to give notice
Although the minimum time between giving notice and getting married is 28 clear days, we can’t always guarantee appointments during busy periods. Notices are valid for one year from the date given.
There may be a 4-6 week wait, so please allow enough time.
We do offer some appointments on Saturday mornings. This is a first come, first served basis and might not always be available due to ceremonies taking place and busy summer months.
